Grey's Anatomy Season 12 Finale - Review Written By Maxine at Spoiler TV

Recently I have had little time to write for my blogs, as life has taken over, and while I used to write my own Grey’s Anatomy reviews, as well as Person of Interest reviews, I find that the writers at Spoiler TV do this so much better than I. So starting with the Season 12 Finale, I am posting some of Maxine’s reviews for the fans to enjoy. You can also read them on Spoiler TV.

Spoiler TV is probably the best TV site to get all information related to your favourite scripted shows. They also have some of the best writers working there. Anyway let’s get to the review.

Grey’s Anatomy bowed out of season twelve last night with a low key yet satisfyingly powerful season finale. There were no catastrophic multi-casualty dangerous external events. This will not be a finale we will be talking about in years to come. Instead you might say that this episode was more about understated human drama and conflict. It reflected a closeness to real life as much as any Grey’s episode might without wandering into melodrama territory. After last weeks masterclass ensemble episode my expectations were suitably lowered that the finale might not live up to that. It didn’t but nevertheless I felt pleased at the end. Or perhaps that satisfaction is more to do with the rather low key cliffhangers. There is not a lot for us to panic about over during hiatus.

“Family Affair”, written by William Harper and directed by Debbie Allen was exactly that, a very family affair. Indeed the stories were so interwoven both in directing and writing that the majority of the cast felt like family to one another. Within the major stories there were subtle hat tips to family; take Bailey gently telling Jackson how strong April is, or Owen unknowingly giving Alex some brotherly advice, or Webber trying to be the gracious groomsman. This was a gentle finale where the medical drama in the hospital was secondary to the one going on on Meredith’s couch. It offered up something for everyone, closed down a number of open plot lines and opened up some fresh ones ready for season thirteen. While those new stories look to be very appealing I worry that by not giving us too much to think about over the next four months they may not be strong enough to hold the viewers that this old timer show needs to hold.

The finale opened with Meredith and Alex flaked out on a lawn discussing the whys and wherefores of true love. Is it possible to have more than one? This brother and sister moment finally confirmed to us that Izzie is a thing of the past. It can’t be possible that Alex only gets one true love. A lot goes on for Meredith in “Family Affair”. The journey that she’s been on to come back to herself or the version of herself that she’s comfortable with post Derek has reached the point where her three worlds are in some kind of equilibrium - her work, her love life, her family. At the end of season eleven Meredith was moving in with Alex and now she has a household running, collecting strays, and hosting births. Maggie and Amelia have established themselves (several times in the case of the latter) as both her roomies and her sisters and through the ups and downs of sisterhood they have found their own bickering reality. A year ago Meredith was telling Alex “I hurt her feelings and she’s mad at me. I forgot I’m supposed to be her sister”. It would be easy to say she hasn’t moved on. Her treatment of Amelia has been woeful recently and last night Amelia called her on it in a big pre-wedding showdown. In Amelia, Meredith sees herself. And in herself perhaps she sees Cristina - for she was channeling Cristina forcefully. The speech itself was important because it established more than a sisterly bond between Meredith and Amelia. Cristina’s relationship with Meredith went beyond sisters. They were soul mates. Amelia will never be that to Meredith but Meredith has recognised that she has it within her to bring others into her world in the same kind of way. Being a twisted sister, being Amelia’s person on the day, being FAMILY, reinforced the idea that this new Grey’s era is about family and about sisters. While this episode was titled “Family Affair” so the show is now a family affair.

This started a very funny, rather lighthearted ‘Bridesmaids/Hangover’ style segment with Maggie the romantic neurotic, Meredith the rebel with a cause and Amelia the indecisive chaotic. Poor Owen knew nothing but it is a credit to him that he waited patiently for reason, love and romance to prevail.
Amelia moves back and forth in her pursuit of a decision on what to do, eventually believing that it’s possible to have more than one true love, more than one chance.

I was disappointed with the way they portrayed Mrs Shepherd. Her character, played previously by Tyne Daly, though only shown briefly in seasons past (Season Five), was a strong force for good. She believed in Meredith even when Meredith didn’t believe in herself. She believed in Mark despite his teenage hormones and it’s a shame the writers have her not believing in Amelia.

What does this mean for Season Thirteen Amelia: I can’t help feeling that this is foreshadowing or at least more significant than it appears. I wonder if Owen’s calmness through the pause in the proceedings will come around to backfire when life and work start to interfere with their marriage. Or maybe they get their happy season. Every couple gets a happy season before the proverbial crap hits the fan again. It would be good to see Mrs Shepherd visit and make peace with Amelia.

It turns out Meredith and Riggs had quite the night in her car and if Riggs has his way there would be more, a lot more than four more. Well I love Riggs (look at those eyes!) but I’m not sold on Riggs with Meredith. This is one of two major stories bedded in for season thirteen. In trying to be all things to all people Meredith has a quiet friendly word with Owen about Amelia. She can do this, she has permission from Cristina, though I think it a little unfair of her to suggest to Owen that he needed to discuss his remarrying with his ex-wife of some years now. She has been told quite clearly by Owen that “we hate Riggs”, yet jumps on him to the tune of four times with possibly more to come. Maggie, the ultimate romantic has found someone she quite likes (who by the way happens to be her subordinate) and of course tells her sister that she’d quite like to have a go four times with Riggs (okay, she didn’t say four times but we know he’s good for it). Riggs delivers the rings to Owen, and sort of makes some peace though we all know that really the situation is just plain AWKWARD. And so we came to the cliff hanger. Well not really. While the episode made me smile and the final shot particularly so I was let down by this rather tepid ending. The narrative being that Meredith and Nathan would be friends with benefits rather subdued the drama with Maggie. She quite fancies him, and Meredith is sleeping with him with no commitment. It could’ve been …Maggie’s in love with him and Nathan’s in love with Meredith who is just sleeping with him…or something similar with more edge and more drama.

It’s rather a mess. A good mess though. We haven’t had a love triangle in a while. This should be interesting.

What does this mean for Season Thirteen Meredith, Maggie, Riggs and Owen (and Amelia): oh my goodness this will be good. Of course Megan will show up, she's a doctor, a surgeon even, and already she is an absent antagonist. She'll show up right when Maggie is laying into Meredith for sleeping with Riggs. The reason we haven't seen her yet is so the writers could prepare the ground to be as churned up as possible; this finale was doing just that.

So this is the second finale in a row where April turns into a superhero. The woman is immense. Her character development over the recent seasons has been phenomenal, topped off with a superb performance from Sarah Drew. Circumstances arise where Ben is put in the unenviable situation of giving April a c-section without pain killers, anaesthetic or even a piece of wood to bite down on. This is the same Ben who four months previously was responsible for making the decision to cut open a woman in a hallway which led to her death and that of her child. The same Ben who is on suspension. Do you remember my mantra people? All Grey’s regulars are redeemable. All of them. Ben is no exception and here was his moment. Though seriously in a house full of doctors there isn’t one clean sharp scalpel. With Miranda’s blessing he cut into April and delivered the baby, saving both their lives. It redeemed him and his marriage and provided a very teary moment in my house.

As for April - Owen’s best man - she showed up with superhuman strength and voracity. Though the birth was dramatic and painfully intense it was nice to see that both mother and baby were fine at the end. Jackson’s own mini birth with his dementia patient added a poignancy to the episode it would have lacked otherwise. Though the scene at the end with him holding his baby was simply too delicious for words.

What does this mean for Season Thirteen April and Jackson: I wonder if Sarah Drew’s or Jesse Williams’ contracts are up for renewal. There was a finality with their final family scene which could easily be the end of the road for them…or just the beginning.

It turns out that Arizona very clearly has not run out of grace as she VERY graciously handed Sofia over to a surprised yet grateful Callie. Did Callie deserve such a magnanimous gesture? Probably not but the enduring character redemption of Arizona continued as she gave up Sofia once again. The moment was heartwarming and a fitting conclusion to this story line.

What does this mean for Season Thirteen Callie and Arizona: This storyline was quite clearly designed to exit Sara Ramirez gracefully (really?) from the show if indeed she decides not to sign on for the following season. It will be a great shame if she doesn’t as she has been arguably one of the strongest characters the show has. We know that the exits of Sandra Oh and Patrick Dempsey have not been the catastrophic disaster some predicted so the show can clearly recover from her exit. This exit being designed to facilitate her to return in the future if mutually acceptable. Allowing Arizona the opportunity to shine in these last couple of episodes has set her up positively and independently for the next season after perhaps too much negative fan reaction. If Ramirez decides to stay on board then the final ‘Calzona’ scene will give some hope to those desperate for their romantic reunion. It's perfectly feasible that Penny will present Callie with a pair of one way tickets back to Seattle with a stinging rebuff. Though I can’t help but feel that Callie’s reaction mid hug was “thank God I can get laid now” in contrast to Arizona’s which was more “I think I might still have feelings”. Cynicism aside my first thought on seeing Arizona’s face was this “If you love something set it free. If it comes back it’s yours. If not, it was never meant to be.”

In what has to be a wonderful example of miserable fail when it comes to covering grief (as I explained in the review for “At Last”) we have one very short reference to Stephanie losing Kyle. And even then the scene is not about her, it is, as per usual, about Jo whining. Even when she’s failed Alex she still has a whine about it. We now know the big secrets that Jo is hiding from Alex. And they are very big. She’s married…to a bully…and is not using her real name. In a rare moment of empathy from me for Jo, I can see why she’s held back from Alex and this was ably demonstrated the moment Alex walked in and saw Andrew virtually on top of a drunken and giggling Jo. It’s easy to see why he saw red but also easy for us to imagine that if he’s willing to beat the hell out of one man for believing he’s bedding his girlfriend imagine what he will do to a man who physically abused his girlfriend and scared her into living a lie.

What does this mean for Season Thirteen Alex and Jo: Again, as with Maggie and Meredith, there is little to concern us over hiatus. We know all the cards so we know there will be resolution. This will be a problem in the build up to season thirteen because without mystery and unanswered questions there will be less of a crescendo to season premiere. Working through this problem will occupy these two characters for the first half of the season. I’m not sure if there is much the writers can do for me to consider myself a fan of Jolex but this is certainly a good start because it adds much needed depth to this very one dimensional character. I’m also imagining the husband might be killed with Alex up on a murder charge….ooh er….now that’s a storyline worth waiting for.

In other news Stephanie is sad but if there is grief or anger at Amelia we will have to wait for the fall out.

“Family Affair” was a heartfelt familial style episode. With the exception of the irritating editing cuts while Amelia was walking down the aisle it was well written and presented. Funny, endearing and satisfying it allowed us to see our favourite doctors working on each other and their relationships primarily over the sterility of patient care. I missed a big finish, a dramatic exit to build my anticipation for season thirteen but I can live with that. There is much to hope for in the new season.

Written prior to cast announcements.
Happy hiatus folks. I’ve ideas for a few one off articles and if life allows will post during the summer. Otherwise have fun and enjoy the Grey’s-drama-free months ahead.

Post Update - Friday am: Updated header picture - I guess this is the most pivotal scene in the episode though perhaps we didn't know it until the credits rolled. I must say Sara looks like she's had a good old cry in this scene. Look out for Callie Torres review coming soon....

Grey's Anatomy - All I Want Is You - Review by Brouhaha from Spoiler TV

Below is yet another review by Maxine AKA Brouhaha who writes the best Grey's Anatomy reviews on the Internet as far as I am concerned. I don't get time to review my favourite TV shows and I am certainly not as good at this as Maxine is when it comes to Grey's Anatomy.

Grey’s Anatomy Review: All I Want Is You - Written by Maxine AKA Brouhaha from Spoiler TV.

Sometimes they get it so right and at the same time get it so annoyingly wrong. “All I Want is You”, written by Elisabeth R Finch and directed by Kevin Sullivan returned us to a more usual ensemble format, weaving in and out of characters and relationships and teasing the beginnings of new stories. Although it had that rather pedestrian feeling of a filler episode it wasn’t. Characters moved forward albeit tentatively and without too much drama. I enjoyed it immensely however because of one important element - Alex. Alex is becoming the one to watch and if it wasn’t for the complete failure to provide him with a proper relationship he could very easily carry the show. He was epic and his character development since Cristina left, since Arizona moved to the tumble weed of fetal surgery and since Derek was hit by a semi is pure television joy.

I’ve missed the complex nuances of moving Alex forward, the quiet progression…maybe I missed the way he’s quietly gone about being a rock in the show? I see it now. Alex is the good thing to come of Cristina leaving. Of Derek dying. Maybe ultimately he’s destined for Meredith and just maybe her shrink’s assumptions were foreshadowing. I don’t believe that relationship is where his strengths lie for the show. His ‘watchability’ is the work he does as a doctor, with the patient, and it never fails. All I Want is You is a wonderful example of that.

And then, epic as that was, we crash to the earth the moment Jo walks in the room. I felt more passion and depth of emotion when Penny shouted at Jackson last week or when she jumped Callie in the big ‘make up’ make out. I felt more angst and rage when Riggs was throwing darts or beautifully synchronising with Owen. These two characters are new, yet produce more screen energy than Jo has for the entirety of her presence in the show. This has a lot to do with casting as I’ve mentioned before, but also much to do with development. Riggs came in with an immediate recent back story with April and some powerful angry chemistry with Owen. We still don’t know the whole story and yes, some of it we need to be told, but we get the emotion from it through how the characters deliver the story. Nothing about Jo’s energy tells me about her history. Penny is introduced as ‘the person who killed the much beloved Derek’ - an antagonist for Meredith. She’s an antagonist through her deeds though, we see it. Her relationship with Callie may well turn out to be just a device or a great love, but either is believable, and for the moment the most important aspect of that particular story arc is that Callie is happy.

So dear writers, show me the real Jo. Give Alex the relationship he deserves rather than a whiney one dimensional irrelevance.

All I Want is You featured the ensemble cast weaving in and out of Meredith’s therapy. Sitting on the shrink’s couch Meredith assumes she’s there as a box ticking exercise, when in fact it’s an exploration of her need to move on, forward, beyond widowhood. While I think it’s a shame that it’s an assault in the ER that’s pushed her to therapy rather than the death of her husband we realise that at some point Meredith needs to be okay being herself, being alone, being on her own and being with others. She needs to be okay just being her, whoever ‘her’ is. I'm sorry to say that I was rather bored with Meredith on the couch. With two episodes of her yet to pick up a scalpel, I hope from now we get to see her back in action, where the best of the show plays out - in the O.R or in an on-call room with a hotty doctor...I'm not fussed.

What of the rest?
Maggie and Andrew are all kinds of gorgeous and I’m looking forward to papa bear protecting his young.
After more angst ridden testosterone laden chest beating between Owen and Nathan we finally see Amelia standing tall and strong. For the first time I enjoyed one of her speeches as she exhibits even more self awareness and humility.
Bailey as chief gets even more chief-lier as the weeks go on. She was made for the role.

April and Jackson’s broken marriage continues to fester below the water mark, waiting to be explored. My money is on a permanent split - though I wouldn’t take that bet if I were you, I’m not good at predictions for this show.
Cross is turning into the new Brooks and I hope very much his character gets more material to work with.

Which leaves me with these burning questions…

Will Stephanie make a play for Ben?
Where is Arizona? Seriously, is Capshaw getting paid for this stuff?

Can the shrink stay? He was fun.

Okay, not really burning questions. A better one would be who of you will put money on Meredith and Alex sittin' in a tree k.i.s.s.i.n.g?

Grey's Anatomy Season 11 Premiere - Review By Brouhaha, Writer For Spoiler TV

Grey's Anatomy - I Must Have Lost It On The Wind - Review

Written by Brouhaha from Spoiler TV

We are officially in mourning. Cristina didn't actually die but her departure from Grey Sloan Memorial leaves us with a huge hole in our hearts and a chasm in the cast. Season eleven of Grey's Anatomy kicked off Thursday night and we landed straight into the drama we left back in May. No time jump, no shootings and no Yang. "I must have lost it on the wind" was a good episode, worthy of early season promise. It flowed almost too well from season finale in a seamless movement from ten to eleven. In this way it succeeded as a premiere because it took us along the journey as if the last four months were but one week. Though without the drama it has potentially lost ratings. In a mostly strong episode the writers gave us good questions about existing, more established characters and left us wanting to know more about the newbies.

Rather than be worried about the negative impact of Oh's departure episode one has actually provided a lot of hope.

The absence of Yang, or perhaps more notably Sandra Oh, while sad, has allowed an unexpected blast of oxygen into the cast. As a powerful character played by a superb actress her absence runs the risk of destabilising not only this season but further seasons. She was at the heart of the show and deeply loved. What occurred through this episode however was a shot of hope to loyal fans that this oxygen has the potential to reinvigorate. Old characters appear renewed and new characters with existing, genuine depth of story have been introduced (even if one of them is a repeat - Half Sister 2.0). This is not to say that Cristina/Oh will not be missed. No doubt at all she will be, but the writers have taken the gap very seriously. They haven't loaded the premiere with childish residents we are told to love (pointing directly at Jo Wilson, a prime example) as they did with the last series of cast departures (Mark, Lexie, Teddy). The writers have provided a more rounded integrated series of plot development and character introductions. In the case of the latter we can already see their place in the show.

This season is about Meredith. If this was not already known before season premiere it's obvious in the first few minutes that Shondaland has gone back to basics. The humorously dark bedroom scene played homage to Grey's of old. With a large regular cast Grey's has always darted around multiple story lines, characters and relationships but this season it is back to Meredith, her uber dysfunctional family and MAGIC. This is wonderful in itself but the beauty continues because Alex and Richard are back in the fold, with pivotal roles to play. Both have been pushed to the periphery in the last few seasons almost to the point that their absence would not be missed. This is no longer the case.

Meredith has another sister. Well…it's not an original story is it? Though granted this sister has a bigger claim to the Ellis Grey 'legacy' than Lexie. Shondaland has written a rather heavy diversion for Meredith with the introduction of Maggie Pierce. She will not be able to mourn Cristina for too long as war wages in the Attending's lounge. This particular arc allows for a much bigger role for Richard. He is now slap bang in the middle of the Meredith action again with new raison d'être. Illustrating further weaving and integration the arrival of Amelia in the AA meeting closes the circle for Dr Webber - a nice touch very early on, an interesting relationship to follow.

In her third arc Meredith is questioning her life with Derek - a solution presented itself at the end of the episode but it seems the problems are a bit deeper than they first appear. It's gonna be a rough year for her and for them.

Justin Chambers has a new lease of life. He looks younger, tidier, less world weary, less…well…tired. Of course we don't see the actor we see Alex Karev, but there is something in his portrayal that implies it is Chambers who feels invigorated. He looks like he is enjoying himself again. It's almost criminal that it's taken Oh's departure for the writers to build Alex into someone we can believe in as we once did. Alex Karev shined through the episode as if he finally has the space to exist in the hospital for the first time in about five seasons. It wasn't explained how it appears he is now back on staff already, but such continuity issues rarely bother Grey's writers. The important thing is that MAGIC or more specifically MA is back and with Alex up front we will see a new, though reassuringly familiar, dynamic replacing Meredith/Yang.

In addition to his promotion to "her person" Alex is now embroiled in a fight with Bailey for a board seat. It cannot be that this board seat goes to anyone but Bailey (really..she was promised chief of surgery in the future back in season 4 or 5, give the woman a break) however it is possible that the writers will somehow find two seats available at some point. Regardless, this is a nice progression for Alex and a welcome boost to his character. Only the story arc with his father has provided depth for him in the last few seasons so it will be interesting to see how Season eleven develops for Evil Spawn.

Alex and Richard have emerged from the Yang shadow with expansive fully integrated stories. One can only hope that Bailey follows.

Callie and Arizona continued on their "oblivious to any problems" journey as cracks start to show in their new found togetherness. Perhaps that's a disservice. Callie did acknowledge last season that they are still fragile but neither of them have realised yet just how fragile they are. Awkward around each other their season eleven storyline kicked off with both of them walking down different roads to potential happiness. Callie is on Team Bailey, Arizona stands in the Team Alex corner. It's a metaphor for their entire marriage - backing different horses as solutions to their problems. Though each one woman focussing on 'self'. This was not an inspiring start for this couple though it does appear that answers may finally come this season. It wasn't particularly enjoyable to watch either, rather awkward and uncomfortable viewing. But then maybe that's the point, it was meant to be uncomfortable and is actually just very good writing?

The newbies presented themselves well. The introduction of Amelia as a Grey's regular seems so natural. Her character has a rich and often dark back story and perhaps fits in better with Grey's than Private Practice. The potential for story is huge. Gina Davis made a fleeting but notable appearance in her recurring role. Slightly wooden in delivery her few words provided a 'career' stake right down the middle of Arizona and Callie. The dilemma she provided fits in well with Arizona's previous work history. The jury is out on Maggie. Her introduction has initially shown her to be a rather insecure and annoying attending and the timeline of her birth versus her career so far is already confusing - another thing that rarely bothers the writers. Even Meredith getting lost at the fairground didn't help. Over the course of the season we will be given reasons to like Maggie but right now it's very hard, but that feels right. All three characters are welcome additions to this ensemble cast and it's reassuring to see more senior new characters over interns.

Unfortunately it wasn't all wonderful. Season Premiere was let down by the rather amateurish special affects which were stolen straight out of 1996. See for yourself by watching the movie Twister. Even the pretty view behind Richard at the AA meeting looked embarrassingly fake. Budgets may be tight now for Grey's as it runs into it's eleventh season but there is no excuse for jarring, painful viewing. In fact the entire helicopter scene wasn't needed, included only to provide some smash bang wallop drama for the premiere. Rather wasted archaic special effects in the end.

In other news:
'Dying inside' Owen is being romanced by the boys at the behest of April. Poor sod never made it to the bar in the end. And Jenga? Really Richard?
Ben is back. Yay.
The kids are still moaning. Though at least there are only two of them now.

In case you missed it: Jackson's line to April "what kind of buddy are you asking me to be?" Subtly and quietly funny.

This process of renewal and integration helped deliver an almost seamless transition from season ten to season eleven. While we didn't get 'hands on bombs' the new season opened with a solid, thoroughly enjoyable episode with invigorated old characters and interesting useful new ones. The flow of the episode was delightful and a credit to the seasoned writer Stacey McKee. It didn't feel like a premiere, which could be problematic in terms of ratings but for loyal fans it felt like a natural progression from the last season finale.

By the end I felt comfortable and already settled into the new.

Over to you...

Penultimate Episode Review Of Grey's Anatomy Season 9 - Via The Shondaland Source

As we head toward the Grey's Anatomy; Season Nine Finale; here is an excellent recap of last Thursday's penultimate episode; "Readiness is All" written by Adam at Shondaland Source. Given recent life events; I have had very little time to write reviews on most of my favourite TV Shows, which is frustrating to me as it's one form of writing that I love to do. There are many excellent bloggers and writers who write great reviews on Grey's Anatomy, so I figured that sharing a review that I totally loved was the next best thing.

The following is an excerpt of the review from The Shondaland Source. You can read the entire review via the links below. Enjoy.

The Calm Before The Storm -  By Adam at ShondalandSource

Well, this wasn’t what I expected. This wasn’t what I expected at all.

That’s all I could think by the time Grey’s Anatomy‘s penultimate ninth season episode came to a close. Well, that and “I loved this episode.” Because I really, truly did.

Talk about false alarms: As it turns out, Meredith’s little slip down the stairs did not spell doom for Meredith or child and is not the source of our problems to come in the finale regarding the birth of McBaby. But that sure didn’t make it any less difficult to watch the scene where Meredith took a pretty harsh tumble down the stairwell and I just about lost it watching Ellen Pompeo’s acting as her face turned to horror and helplessness at realizing what just happened and what it could mean for the baby inside.

Another false alarm? Alex wasn’t the one who beat Chest Peckwell to a pulp, leaving him in the hospital and potentially leading to a dark, dark path. I really, honestly thought for a good chunk of this episode that that is exactly where they were going with this: Alex beat Chest Peckwell to death and now he’s going to go to jail. All I could think was “No. NO WAY.” So color me surprised when it turns out that not only did Alex not beat Chest – Jo did – but that he didn’t die either. What I loved about this storyline was how much it brought Alex, Meredith, and Cristina together. There’s been some great moments with them scattered through the season, but it feels like it’s been a long time since we’ve seen the three of them really banding together, and it brought back a flood of memories to watch them all together. And, OK, I won’t lie: I loved it when Alex threatened Chest out of pressing charges against Jo by not-so-discreetly reminding him that his best friends are the people who bought and now own the hospital. And that Chest is never going to be remembered for anything other than the fact that he beat a woman.

But has the time finally come for Alex and Jo to get together? It looks like it, as Alex finally admits his feelings to her. Of course, being Alex, he doesn’t actually say the words, but he gets close enough. She knows what he’s talking about. Unfortunately, at that very moment a tree comes flying through the living room window so we don’t actually get any resolution to this confession. At least, not just yet. It’s understandable why Alex would be hesitant to enter into a relationship with Jo after learning that she was the one who put Chest in the hospital, especially after how badly he has been hurt in the past, but Meredith is right when she tells him not to write Jo off just yet, because those two? They fit together. They just do. And Alex can’t deny the fact that he went to Chest’s home with the same intention – and that it probably would have certainly ended worse had he followed through.

Cristina gets Ethan’s dad to finally wake up, just as Owen is coming around to the idea of and beginning to seriously consider adopting him. Something tells me, however, that this storyline isn’t over yet. Ethan’s dad probably isn’t truly out of the woods and not only that, but Owen and Cristina are going to have to finally sit down and have the discussion they’ve been avoiding for nearly three seasons now and figure out what to do when it comes to children. Because Cristina remains steadfast – she does not want children, and that is not going to change. I admire the fact that not only is she adamant about that fact, but that the writers won’t allow her to change her mind...................

Sure looks like trouble for Calzona on the horizon and it looks like Meredith has gone into labour

This episode was probably one of the best this season; but that is not surprising. Everyone seems to be experiencing life changes. Bailey's troubles after losing her patients to that infection. Callie and Arizona are most certainly going to have some drama in their marriage. And my hope is that we will see the birth of Meredith and Derek's baby at the end of the finale.

My apologies to my readers for not updating this blog as much as I used to; and getting behind on episode reviews; I am dealing with some pretty rough stuff in my life, and as we all know the business of life just takes on a life of it's own and accepting writing jobs that will pay the bills has to take precedence. This blog for me is a labour of love and unfortunately does not pay the bills, however writing and reporting about my favourite TV show; Grey's Anatomy doesn't really feel like work to me.

So hit the comments, Facebook or Twitter and let me know what you thought of the episode and I'd love to know what your speculations are for the finale; given all the hype Shonda Rhimes has created.
